Laurice Levine of Petaluma has been coming to MarinHealth Medical Center for biweekly blood transfusions for years to manage her rare blood disorder called has transfusion dependent thalassemia (TDT). Patients who have TDT require lifelong regular red blood cell transfusions to survive. If left untreated, the disease can damage organs and potentially lead to death. Laurice is an inspiration, a wife and working mom of an elementary-age son, passionate about helping others with the same disease. She drives regularly from her home in Petaluma to Greenbrae for her life-saving blood transfusions because she appreciates the world-class care she receives.
