Because of its ability to produce fighter jets quickly, the Polish military currently uses Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) as its supplier. As a NATO member whose territory borders Ukraine, Poland must understandably brace for the worst in the face of the threat posed by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Within a year of the contract going into effect, the Polish Air Force has already acquired 12 FA-50GP (Gap Filler) Block 10 light fighters, demonstrating the pace of manufacturing. The first 36 FA-50PL Block 20 Fighting Eagle light fighters, the most sophisticated model in the FA-50 series, are expected to be delivered to the Polish Air Force beginning in 2025. Nonetheless, there is a notion that the Polish Air Force and KAI have some kind of "misperception." For example, it is said that the Polish Air Force anticipates the integration of long-range air-to-air missiles, the AIM-120AMRAAM, as part of the agreement. KAI, however, disputed that this kind of integration was absent. Because the AIM-120 AMRAAM depends on the integration of the AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) radar, the commander of the Tactical Air Wing, a brigade general, stated in an interview that the poles anticipate the AIM-120 AMRAAM to be integrated by the end of the FA-50 development roadmap. The FA-50PL is an upgraded version that includes the AIM-9X Sidewinder short-range missile, Link 16 data link, ATP Sniper targeting pod, Raytheon PhantomStrike AESA radar, and helmet-mounted display (HMD). An extra 300-gallon (1,136-liter) fuel tank and an air-to-air refueling probe are also features of the FA-50PL. According to sources, the FA-50PL may be equipped with GPS-guided bombs manufactured in South Korea (KGGB), which would enable long-range precise strikes in any weather conditions. On July 28, 2022, the Polish government signed a deal for 36 units of FA-50PL Block 20 and 12 units of FA-50GF Block 10. When Poland recognized that support for its remaining MiG-29s and Su-22s was in jeopardy and that the United States would not be able to provide more F-16s in a timely manner, the FA-50 family was chosen in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In particular, the Polish Defense Minister stated that KAI's speedy aircraft delivery was a key consideration in the company's choice. Even though the first Block 20 aircraft is almost finished at KAI's Sacheon production line, Polish defense sources say there are still integration problems with the FA-50PL that could result in contract termination. KAI and Lockheed Martin collaborated to build the FA-50PL Block 20, a contemporary light fighter jet. This version, which was created especially for the Polish Armed Forces, has significant improvements over its predecessor. The General Electric F404-GE-102 turbojet engine that powers the FA-50PL Block 20 generates about 17,700 lb (7,934 kg) of thrust. Built for maximum efficiency and dependability, this engine is essential to the aircraft's performance and can quickly adjust to changing battle situations. The FA-50PL is the perfect supersonic fighter jet for quick maneuvers and long-range tactical missions because of its strong engine, which can propel it to remarkable speeds of up to Mach 1.5. #fighterjets #FA-50PL #airforce #army
