ENGLAND'S LAKE DISTRICT, CUMBRIA - Grasmere, Bothers Water and the Honister Slate Mine

In this video we travel from our campsite, the Troutbeck Head Caravan and Motorhome Club, to the pretty and popular village of Grasmere. This little village draws large numbers of visitors from across the world. We visit the popular Sarah Nelson's Gingerbread Shop and come across the grave of the poet William Wordsworth, who was buried in the grounds of St. Oswald's Church. We find a shop selling jigsaws, one having 42,000 pieces! We then take a short walk along the river, through woodland to Grasmere Lake. We continue our journey down the Kirkstone Pass, with lovely views as you descend towards Patterdale, to arrive at Brothers Water, which is one of the smallest and prettiest lakes in the Hartsop Valley. This small lake is only about half a mile long and less than a quarter of a mile wide and is a very pretty walk. The following day we decided to visit the Honister Slate Mine, which is the last working slate mine in England. Mine tours run daily and take approximately 90 minutes. In addition to the mine tours, Honister Slate Mine offer a great range of adventure activities, from scrambling and climbing across Honister Crag while securely harnessed to a cable for safety, to high wire bridges and scenic hikes, there's something for every age and ability. It is a scenic drive along the Honister Pass which you can also travel by single deck bus, the Honister Rambler 77, and is one of Britain's most scenic bus routes travelling along the Honister Pass to the slate mine and then Buttermere.
