IRELAND - A post-mortem examination on the body of a 51-year-old man who died after he was allegedly pushed by a garda in Dublin are “absolutely key” to what direction the investigation takes. Fiosrú, the Office of the Police Ombudsman, confirmed that it had launched a criminal investigation into the death of the man. He had been socialising earlier before an interaction with the officer near the Holiday Inn on O’Connell Street at 4.15am on Friday, which was captured on CCTV. An alleged minor public order incident involving the man came to the attention of gardaí at the scene just before the interaction, resulting in the man falling and suffering fatal head injuries.
