LLANTYSILIO MOUNTAIN PARAGLIDING

A great day in North Wales — my first visit to Llantysilio Mountain. At the beginning, I stood on launch for almost half an hour, waiting for the clouds to clear. The sky was teasing me, holding the sun behind a thick curtain. Then suddenly, the light broke through. The sun showed itself, and that was my moment — I clipped in and took off. The first half hour was incredible. Small thermals began lifting me higher and higher, and soon I was sharing the sky with birds, circling together in silent harmony. It felt effortless, like the mountain had decided to welcome me. But mountains have their moods. Slowly the clouds took control of the sky again, and the magic started to fade. The thermals weakened, and the flight turned into steady, quiet soaring. When I looked around, I realized I was completely alone. The wind felt colder, and the sky suddenly much bigger. That was my sign. I decided to land. Back on the ground, I poured a hot coffee and had a quick snack while watching the clouds move across the hills. For a moment I thought about driving 40 minutes south to try another spot, but the day already felt complete. Instead, I made one more short flight — a final goodbye to the mountain. Then it was time to head home, relax, and save my energy for the next adventure. I’m sure I’ll return to Llantysilio Mountain one day… hopefully when the sky decides to be a little kinder.
