My first attempt at making my own Coconut Cult-style yogurt was a fail—watery, barely fermented, and not the thick, tangy probiotic superfood I was hoping for. But round two? Success! Here’s what I learned: ❌ First time: I didn’t get the coconut cream-to-milk ratio right I used honey (too little of it) instead of coconut sugar My starter wasn’t as strong as Coconut Cult, so fermentation took forever and still didn’t thicken to the consistency I wanted ✅ What worked: Ratio matters → 1 can coconut cream + 1 can coconut milk (both@wholefoods brand) Feed the bacteria → 2 tbsp coconut sugar (honey wasn’t enough) Ferment power → Used a better yogurt starter + gave it 48 hrs ✨ Recipe: ** important note - be sure to sterilize your jars first with boiling water and ensure that no contaminants are present 1️⃣ Blend: 1 can coconut cream 1 can coconut milk 2 tbsp coconut sugar 2️⃣ Pour into jars & mix: One jar: left plain One jar: added ¼ cup cocoa powder 3️⃣ Stir in 2 tbsp yogurt starter per jar & ferment for ~48 hrs Now I’ve got thick, probiotic-rich coconut yogurt that’s actually worth the effort.
