Using VARIO® controlled pumps result in optimal evaporation rates and shorter process times while eliminating the need for constant process monitoring. In contrast, using pumps without control require manual adjustments to vacuum levels and can result in sample loss from bumping and foaming. To begin using a VARIO® select pump, simply set up the rotary evaporator as you normally do. Set the bath temperature and rotational speed. Turn on the vacuum pump and controller. The VACUU·SELECT controller’s intuitive touch-screen interface comes preloaded with common laboratory vacuum applications. To begin evaporative work, navigate to the applications page, select “Automatic Evaporation” and simply press start. VACUUBRAND’s VARIO® controlled pumps use an integrated pressure sensor to detect the boiling point of the solvent so there’s no temperature probe to worry about. The integral pressure sensor eliminates the need for a solvent library or for the user to key in any parameters. The motor speed automatically adjusts to pressure changes, keeping the rate of evaporation high while avoiding sample loss from bumping. Even complex solvents are easily and safely evaporated. For complex processes that require customization, the VACUU-SELECT controller has an intuitive drag and drop editor that allows users to easily modify preloaded applications and even provides the capability to create their own from scratch.
