Donald Trump announced he will be substantially raising tariffs on India. The decision follows India's purchase of Russian oil, with Trump stating on his social site, "They don't care how many people in Ukraine are being killed by the Russian war machine. Because of this, I will be substantially raising the tariffs paid by India to the United States." India imports approximately 41% of its crude oil from Russia, which accounts for about half of its daily consumption of 5 million barrels due to discounted prices. India's total dependence on imported oil stands at 85%.
