Bucket list item checked, finally pulled it off. This is the Georgia Traverse. 4 days, nearly 400 miles, touching 5 states. After previously completing many day trips on several small sections, I was finally able to dedicate the time to do the entire Traverse from east to west Last minute vacation canceled, rearranging plans, this was originally just gonna be a Charlie’s creek and Cohutta ride but it turned into the entire Georgia Traverse. However, while being successful, the trip was not well planned. definitely don’t recommend doing it this way Start We decided not to ride Burel’s ford sure to the Hurricane having just devastated the area. So the first 45 minutes or so will be skipped but we’ll come back in a year or so and ride that oart separately Day 1, We’ll start as a group in Clayton Georgia and take the Georgia traverse all the way to Helen. Passing through Charlie’s Creek, skipping the closed Dicks creek. Then Tray Mountain takes you to Helen. And we arrive during October fest Day 2, I will continue the route; now alone. Mostly riding through Coopers Creek, making it to Skeenah Mountain dispersed campsite. Didn’t cover much since I had to go by Dahlonega and resupply for the Extended voyage Day 3: weeks creek, Shallowford Bridge in dial Ga, into Rich Mountain. From there passing through Cherry log we’ll enter the Cohutta Wikderness. We’ll camp at the same place as last year when overlanding the Big Frog Loop Day 4: leaving the Cohutta, we travel through Dalton to reach the Alabama Border, previously Dalton was the farthest west I had been along the Traverse. The next large section is Taylor Ridge. Definitely worth the ride, I had an absolute blast riding the trails along the ridge mountains. Finish line.. Unfortunately the Georgia traverse ends on pavement. I guess progress truly has its price as more and more of the Traverse is getting closed or Paved 00:00 intro 01:30 hurricane Helene aftermath 02:00 Charlie’s creek 07:07 bypassing dicks creek 07:30 tray mountain and Helen 08:30 coopers creek 11:45 Skeenah 14:50 weeks creek campsite 16:25 Shallowford bridge and rich mountain 17:30 Cohutta 20:45 Cohutta campsite 23:45 Cohutta to Dalton 25:35 Taylor Ridge 30:35 Finish line at the Alabama border
