GLASGOW COMA SCALE The Glasgow Coma Scale provides a practical method for assessment of impairment of conscious level in response to defined stimuli. It describe the general level of consciousness in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and to define broad categories of head injury. The Glasgow coma scale is an integral part of clinical practice and research across the World. The experience gained since it was first described in 1974 has advanced the assessment of the Scale through the development of a modern structured approach with improved accuracy, reliability, and communication in its use.” The GCS is divided into 3 categories: Eye opening (E), motor response (M), and verbal response (V).
