Vipasha Devi Tilak is a writer, facilitator, curator and coach who believes that stories create a world of emotions and make the everyday seem incredible. Having spent 15+ years pursuing different mediums of storytelling, she started her career as a TV journalist, moved to the digital medium and then coached founders to shape their stories on stage. She has worked with brands like NDTV, 22feet, NCPA, TEDx and INKtalks. Vipasha has a Masters in Mass Communication from Jamia Millia Islamia and studied at the Creative and Cultural Businesses Programme at IIM Ahmedabad. Outside of work, she is a student of Carnatic music, meditation and observational astronomy. In this podcast, we talked in detail about curation, how it works, and the challenges. It's a niche field, and the expertise comes from years of experience is what I gathered when I spoke to Vipasha. Curiosity is the most important characteristic of being a curator, as they try various things to figure about how things actually work, and in that process, they figure out if a person who projects themselves as an expert in the field can indeed kindle the curiosity of the audience of the events they speak or does a workshop in. We also talked about TEDx and how to be a TEDx speaker. Vipasha gave some great tips on that and also a pointer to a book about how to be a great speaker in general, not just a TED speaker. Vipasha has great interest in astronomy and exploring music, and we talked about her astronomy related explorations and travel, as well as the music genres that she listens to. Vipasha had a question for me - 'What would you do if you had all the money in the world, Venkat?' Listen to the podcast to know what my answer to that is! Sit back, Relax, and Listen In!
