Dion is the best-selling Canadian artist & the best-selling French artist of all time.Her music has incorporated genres such as pop, rock, R&B, gospel & classical music. Born into a large family (she is the youngest of 14 children) from Quebec, she emerged as a teen star in her country during the 1980s. He mortgaged his home to fund her 1st record, La voix du bon Dieu. She was bullied at school & called Vampire, owing to her teeth & skinny frame. By 1983 she became the 1st Canadian artist to receive a gold record in France for the single D'amour ou d'amitié. At 18, she receded from the spotlight for months, during which she did dental surgery & learned English. After Rene's diagnosis with cancer she took a break from the bussines in 2000. She gave birth to René-Charles, in 2001. Dion suffered a miscarriage in 2009. In 2010, gave birth to twins. Named Eddy (after songwriter Eddy Marnay) & Nelson (after Nelson Mandela). On 14 Jan 2016, Rene died of throat cancer. 2 days later Dion's brother, Daniel, died aged 59, also of cancer.
