12th birthday party of Tai Shan

On 9 July, Tai Shan, the giant panda returing from overseas with the most fans in the world, celebrated his 12th birthday. The China Conservation & Research Centre for the Giant Panda(CCRCGP) threw a simple but sweet party for Tai Shan. Care taker(nanny)LIU Yi started to prepare the birthday cake with fresh bamboos and other food from very early in the morning. At 10am, LIU brought the double-layered delicious cake into the breeding house. Together with LIU, five volunteers from Washington helped to further decorate the cake nicely. Volunteers from all over the world, tourists, as well as staff from CCRCGP sang the birthday song for Tai Shan. Tai Shan seemd quite satisfied with the cake and ate it happily along with the song. Everyone tried to keep this moment by photos. This is his eighth birthday in China after returning from the States. Tai Shan weighted slightly less than his peers when he just came back. After several years of care and nursing, Tai Shan is really health and in a good condition. He is about 110kg at the moment.
