In late January 1996, Jane Bennett-Powell of Channel 4 News travelled to Srebrenica in Bosnia's Republika Srpska to investigate claims of war crimes committed by Bosnian Serb forces against Srebrenica's Bosniak (Bosnian Muslim) and Croat population following the town's capture in July 1995. NATO had recently revealed intelligence suggesting as many as 300 mass graves could be unearthed in Bosnia. US satellite photos and eyewitness accounts identified at least two sites, at Nova Kasaba and Glogova.
