Opir Paron firmly opposed the Siang Dam, citing environmental and cultural threats to Adi.

Panggi Welfare Society (PWS) General Secretary, Opir Paron, gave a memorandum about the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project to the Adi Bane Kebang Consultative on October 20, 2025. In his message, he strongly said that the dam on the Siang River is not needed. He warned that it would harm the environment and affect the lives, culture, and identity of the Adi people. He also said there is no need for a Preliminary Feasibility Report (PFR) because the people of Siang and Upper Siang have already made it clear that they do not want the dam project.
