Sony RX1R III Review | Leica Killer or Just a Pricey Pocket Toy? I took a good hard practical look at the Sony RX1R mkIII, and I found myself asking: is this a Leica killer, a very usable man toy, or just a beautifully expensive indulgence? And does the equally pricey Oberwerth Relon XS bag that fits it so perfectly do the job? Join me on my couch, and let's take a look... Back in 2012, Sony dropped the original iconic RX1, a dream for travel and street shooters. Fast forward to 2025, and we finally have the long-awaited mark III: 61 megapixels, full-frame sensor, fixed 35mm f/2 lens. Small body, big specs! Still iconic? As a wedding and event photographer, I took it on the road alongside my A9 III and A1 II, both monsters in their own right! So although not an entirely fair comparison, I was surprised to see what it can do. It’s compact, discreet, and honestly, a bit sexy🥰 Sure, it might have some limitations, but balanced with extraordinary specs, is the price tag justifiable? If you want Sony’s full-frame magic in a camera that literally fits in your hand, this might just be it. It might not be a "do-it-all" camera - but it’s defo a "want-to-carry-it" camera. And for me personally, that’s rare😲 I also took the opportunity to review Oberwerth's Relon XS is a truly well made luxury camera bag, see how it fits the RX1Riii perfectly!
