Chinese ritual music of the Qing Dynasty at Ritan Park, Beijing

Reenactment of Chinese imperial ceremonial and ritual music of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), in celebration of the vernal equinox (chunfen shijie, 春分时节), worshiping the sun upon its return following the winter, as was formerly done each year. The first piece is a chuida qupai (吹打曲牌, labeled tune for winds and percussion) entitled "Chao Tianzi" 《朝天子》 (Paying Homage to the Son of Heaven). The second piece (beginning around 2:00) is Zhonghe Shaoyue (中和韶乐), imperial ritual music of the Qing Dynasty. It appears that all the music in this presentation was prerecorded.
