Today marks Chap Goh Meh (正月十五), the final stretch of the Lunar New Year festivities in this Year of the Fire Horse (丙午年). Honestly, I thought the crowds might have thinned out by now, but I was wrong! I headed down to the Guanyin Temple late in the afternoon, and the energy was still so high. Even with the sun starting to dip, there were so many people streaming in to offer their prayers and get those last-minute blessings for 2026. There’s something really peaceful, yet intense, about being in that crowd—everyone just trying to start their year on the right foot. The most "back to reality" moment, though, was walking through the nearby stalls. It’s wild how fast things move here! Just a few days ago, you couldn't walk two steps without seeing a mountain of pineapple tarts or love letters. Today? They’re almost all gone. The festive snacks have been swapped out for everyday clothing, mops, and kitchenware. It’s like the neighborhood collectively decided it’s time to get back to work! 👕🧹 It’s always a little bittersweet to see the red decorations start to come down, but I’m glad I caught the final vibes of the festival today.
