The Nature of Science in the Next Generation Science Standards

This is the fifth in a series of seven web seminars that explore the Next Generation Science Standards. Presenters Norman G. Lederman, from the Illinois Institute of Technology, and Ted Willard, NSTA's NGSS Director, provide an overview of the Next Generation Science Standards, including how the standards were developed and which organizations were instrumental in that development. Dr. Lederman discusses the concept of “the nature of science” as a way of teaching science that helps engage students in the study of science. He then provides lesson plan ideas and activities that highlight the nature of science in correlation with the NGSS.
