AKAA (Also Known As Africa) is the place to be if you love bold, fresh, and mind-blowing art. It started in 2016 and has become one of the most talked-about art fairs celebrating African creativity worldwide! This year’s event in Paris brought together over 40 galleries and 150 artists, showcasing some of the most creative and powerful works from Africa and the diaspora. It’s not just about art—it’s about stories, culture, and perspectives that stick with you. The event highlighted the rich cultural exchanges between Africa, the Americas, and the Caribbean, with a special focus on the ultramarine art scene. Galleries from countries such as France, Italy, Germany, Portugal, and the Netherlands presented works that spanned various mediums and themes. Notable galleries included ARTCO Gallery from Germany, Primo Marella Gallery from Italy, and AKKA Project from Italy, each bringing unique perspectives and artists to the fair. Artists like Joël Andrianomearisoa, Hako Hankson, Abdoulaye Konaté, Tegene Kunbi, Godwin Champs Namuyimba, and Samuel Nnorom showcased their works, reflecting the diversity and dynamism of African contemporary art. The fair also featured special showcases by invited artists and curators, amplifying the voices of vibrant artistic scenes from France’s overseas territories. It’s colorful, it’s inspiring, and, of course, it’s packed with a good dose of creative chaos. Hit play and come hang out with us at AKAA 2024!
