When an incredible Animal Control Officer reached out to us about an emaciated Pit Bull collapsed on the sidewalk, barely able to stand up, we immediately accepted. The officer gathered Artemis up and transported him to a safe location, where he was fed small meals throughout the day in an attempt to stabilize him without overwhelming his fragile system. Starvation cases are tricky. Artemis has gone without consistent, nutritious meals for so long that if we feed him too quickly, it could be a death sentence. We are supporting a temporary foster with supplies as we wait for Artemis’ vet appointment tomorrow. There, he’ll undergo a full medical workup to evaluate any life-threatening concerns that may be hiding just below the surface. Our team is pouring our hearts into this precious boy’s second chance, but this new year has already slammed our rescue with countless medical cases.
