He won Best Actor for this 🏆 at the 2016 Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards! Cast in 2018/2019: Ronkẹ Adékoluẹjo, Chris Corrigan, Andrea Irvine, Amy Molloy and Stephen Rea. Original cast in 2016: Wunmi Mosaku, Chris Corrigan, Julia Dearden, Amy Molloy and Stephen Rea. The play premiered at the Peacock Stage Abbey Dublin on 11-Feb-2016, ran until 19-Mar-2016; then toured to the Royal Court Theatre, London, 5-Apr. to 7-May-2016 at the Jerwood Upstairs. During the pandemic, the filmed version was released online for free, for 3 months, for World Theatre Day 27-Mar-2020 the film adaptation was commissioned by The Space, produced for BBC4 by the Royal Court Theatre, executive produced by Lucy Davies, Jane Featherstone, Barbara Broccoli, Michael G Wilson. The 2016 production at the Royal Court was supported by Cockayne Grants for the Arts, a donor-advised fund of the London Community Foundation. The play was commissioned by the Abbey Theatre, but it didn’t reach the stage until 3 years after it’d been written. The Abbey’s lawyers were concerned about Gerry Adams’ possible reaction. European privacy and image legislation raises questions about whether a living individual can be dramatically depicted without their permission, which Adams was unlikely to give. David Ireland: “I don’t know all the legal ins and outs. But then I only expected the play to be on for a couple of weeks in Dublin.
