What can you expect from the iDeaPLAY BP300 Portable Power Station? Their power output specs are all over the place. I've seen "AC output 300-500 W" on their website, the Fry's listing claims "peak 300 Watt output", and the Amazon listing says "under 300W". Anyway, I recommend keeping it under 100W, because the cooling fan runs continuously when drawing 50 Watts or more. Besides, the battery would drain quickly if you used a 300W appliance. You may be wondering why I did all my tests outdoors. I've seen too many videos of hoverboards and e-bikes spontaneously combusting. After doing these tests, I feel confident I can use it indoors. So, is it worth buying? If you can get it on sale, and you don't need power for more than a few hours, then the answer is yes. It's useful, as long as your expectations are realistic. This probably won't run a full size fridge, because they draw a huge amount of current when starting up. I bought this on sale at Fry's Electronics for $160 (currently, $220 on Amazon). Finally, they have something good on sale, and there was plenty in stock too. If your power requirements are modest, and you only need it for a few hours, then this is perfect. I was really impressed with this product; It works with various devices, it's small, portable, and way more convenient than a gas generator.
