A Better Word (1.3.26)

As we step into a new year, it’s easy to move straight into fixing mode—goals, resolutions, discipline, effort. But Scripture reminds us that our faith isn’t built on what we do; it’s built on what Jesus has already done. Hebrews contrasts two mountains: Mount Sinai, representing law, fear, self-effort, and judgment—and Mount Zion, representing grace, presence, and the finished work of Christ. We are invited to Mount Zion. The blood of Abel cried out for justice. The blood of Jesus speaks a better word—forgiveness, love, peace, hope, and life. Jesus is the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. We don’t earn His presence; we receive it. When we live from that place, love overflows naturally into our relationships, families, and daily lives. So as we move into 2026, let’s not pack away Christ with the Christmas season. Let’s fix our eyes on Jesus, slow down, listen to what His blood is speaking over us, and live from grace—not striving. His blood still speaks. And it speaks a better word.
