In this Empathy Studios Original, we follow Pete as he offers a raw and deeply personal tribute to his father, Paul. A devoted father and gifted sportsman, Paul lived by the belief that everyone carries their own story, and that each deserves to be met with openness and respect. Behind that warmth, however, Paul lived with a “foggy mess” of depression. This short film follows Pete as he searches for understanding in the aftermath of his father’s suicide - Gently confronting the untruths mental illness can tell, and discovering how to move forward by honouring the legacy his father left behind. –––––––––––––––––––––– 👉 Learn more: https://www.empathystudios.com 🚀 Schools: Join us for Empathy Week (9th-13th March 2026) - the world's largest empathy festival that is FREE for all schools: https://www.empathyweek.org 🔬 Download our research report - https://bit.ly/empathyresearch2024 –––––––––––––––––––––– 💬 USE THE QUESTIONS below to base a discussion around the film, framed by Pete's story: 🏫 1. Students (Ages 13–19) - Pete mentions that the "lies that depression told" his father weren't true. What are some common "lies" or stigmas surrounding mental health, and how can empathy help us uncover the truth? 👩🏾💼 2. Workplaces / Teams - Pete notes that his father would "pay such an interest in you as a person" during conversations. How would our workplace culture change if we prioritised seeing each other as whole people with our own stories rather than just as roles or job titles? –––––––––––––––––––––– 🎥 Film Club♣️ - Turn the bell notifications on and enjoy a film for free every month. 🏫 Educators: Use this film in class with our discussion guides and training - join at https://www.empathystudios.com/ 👩🏾💼 Companies & Organisations: Use "Pete''s Story” to spark conversations and build understanding. 🧍♀️🧍🧍♂️Everyone else - join for the humanity and to bring a little bit more empathy (understanding) into the world. –––––––––––––––––––––– 💚 Empathy Studios - Making everyone feel seen, heard and understood.
