Hey guys! Thanks for tuning in, we had heard about a local hidden gem on the Hai Van pass (the most dangerous mountain pass in Vietnam) which consists of some great photo opportunities, beautiful waterfalls and a fantastic drive - we decided to check it out and have a coffee along the way while visiting the Tran Dynasty's Hai Van gate which was used by the South Vietnamese and American forces for defense against the North Vietnamese. Hai Van Pass or Sea Clouds Pass offers an impressive landscape of verdant mountains and clear blue skies, overlooking Da Nang City, Tien Sa Port, Son Tra Peninsula, and South China Sea. Crossing over a spur of Truong Son mountain range between Thua Thien-Hue Province and Da Nang City, it stands at 500m above sea level, making it the highest pass in Vietnam. Top Gear says that the Hai Van Pass is one of the best things to do in central Vietnam. Have an adventure on a motorbike and enjoy the views, swimming and a trek in the Marble Mountains. The 25 kilometre-long mountain pass is popular amongst thrill-seeking motorcyclists due to its winding roads, sudden curves and blind corners, while its lookout point offers gorgeous views of Da Nang Bay. The pass also hosts the ancient Tran Dynasty’s Hai Van Gate, Hai Van Tunnel (the longest in ASEAN), wartime gun towers, and a decrepit French-built fort that was later used as a bunker by South Vietnamese and US armies during the Vietnam War. To find the waterfalls simply search for Lối vào Cầu Vòm Đồn Cả, Lối xuống bãi hải vân bắc on google maps! We were ensuring to wear masks and practice social distancing throughout the video due to the Covid Pandemic. Despite Vietnams swift decision making and fight against the virus - it has unfortunately returned and a few provinces and districts throughout Vietnam have gone back into part lockdown. We hope everyone in Vietnam and around the world stays safe! This was all filmed on a DJI Mavic Pro 2 and a Gopro Hero 8 4k.
