When Roman soldiers publicly humiliated Queen Boudica of the Iceni and assaulted her daughters in 60 AD, they believed they had crushed any hope of resistance. Instead, their brutality ignited one of the most powerful uprisings Rome ever faced in ancient Britain. This cinematic history documentary tells the full story of Boudica’s rebellion, from the death of King Prasutagus and the Roman seizure of the Iceni kingdom to the rising anger among the Celtic tribes that would soon turn Britannia into a battlefield. As the revolt spreads, it sweeps through Camulodunum (Colchester), Londinium (London), and Verulamium (St Albans), shaking the Roman Empire at its core and forcing Governor Suetonius to fight for Rome's survival in Britain. Much of what we know about Boudica comes from Roman historians: Tacitus, writing about fifty years after the rebellion, and Cassius Dio, writing around 150 years later. Their accounts remain the only detailed sources we have, but they include speeches, numbers, and dramatic elements that were likely exaggerated or shaped by Roman literary tradition. Through atmospheric visuals and original narration, this documentary brings to life the story of a woman who refused to be broken, one whose revolt was so fierce that Emperor Nero himself considered withdrawing Roman forces from Britannia. 00:00 – Rome Burns: A Teaser of What’s Coming 00:47 – Rome in Britannia: An Uneasy Peace 01:07 – Queen of the Iceni 01:41 – The Death of King Prasutagus 01:56 – The Flogging of Boudica & Assault on Her Daughters 03:14 – A Queen Rises From the Dirt 04:05 – Rallying the Iceni, Trinovantes & Coritani 05:14 – March on Camulodunum (Colchester) 06:27 – Omens in the Temple of Claudius 07:54 – The Fall of Camulodunum (Archaeological Evidence) 09:06 – The Ninth Legion Is Ambushed 10:01 – Boudica Heads for Londinium 10:28 – The Destruction of Londinium (London) 11:30 – Verulamium Burns (St. Albans) 12:05 – The Final Battle at Watling Street 14:03 – The Death and Legend of Boudica 14:31 – Aftermath: Nero’s Policy Shift 15:15 – How Boudica Changed Roman Britain 15:48 – Next episode 💬 Question: Was Boudica a freedom fighter or did she go to far?
