He caught him and said: “I will take you to the Prophet ﷺ.” The man pleaded: “I am poor, my children are hungry, please let me go.” Abu Hurairah (RA) felt pity and released him. In the morning, the Prophet ﷺ asked: “Abu Hurairah, what happened to your prisoner last night?” He narrated the whole story. The Prophet ﷺ said: “He lied to you, and he will return.” --- Second Night The same thing happened again. He came, stole food, begged for mercy, and Abu Hurairah (RA) let him go. When Abu Hurairah (RA) informed the Prophet ﷺ, he said: “He lied again, and he will come back.” --- Third Night He appeared again. This time Abu Hurairah (RA) said he would not let him go. The man said: “I will teach you something that will protect you from the shaitan.” Then he said: When you go to bed, recite Ayat-ul-Kursi.
