Hey guys, it's Kevin here with etrailer and today we're gonna be taking a look at Curt's Friction Sway Control. So if you're experiencing some sway whenever you're towing your trailer and maybe your vehicle that you're using just can't use a weight distribution hitch, or you have a trailer that the weight kind of changes drastically to where a weight distribution hitch would kind of fall out of that range, maybe like a car trailer if you're using different cars on it, that tongue weight's gonna keep changing back and forth, maybe pretty wildly to where that weight distribution hitch would be way out of range. That's where our Curt Sway Control Friction is going to be the answer. So as your trailer starts to wag behind you and you experience all that sway, these two bars are actually gonna sit there and slide against each other and it's gonna cause a whole lot of friction and that's gonna keep pushing it back so that it's a straight line with your tow vehicle. Now I do wanna say that any friction sway control that you use is gonna be kind of noisy because it is metal on metal rubbing, creating that friction, so it can make quite a bit of a racket. As far as installation goes, these friction sway control systems are super easy to install. You only have to drill a few holes into your trailer frame, which you may have to do anyway depending on what weight distribution hitch you had. These can also be used with weight distribution hitches, so if you wanted to use it on that, you'd have to already have that extra ball mount option on there, or if you didn't, you can use the weld-on tab that could go onto your standard ball mount as well, so that you can get this mounted up. So for our Curt Friction Sway Control, it's gonna come with our actual sway control. It's gonna have a weld-on tab, and that is if you don't have a ball mount that already has that additional hole for your sway control ball mount. And then it's gonna come with a spacer plate and our ball. This is gonna go onto our actual tongue of our trailer and then it's gonna sit on that spacer just like that, with screws going into each hole. Now the kit does say that it comes with self-tapping screws but obviously, they did not give us self-tapping, so I am gonna have to take an 11 30 seconds drill bit and drill some holes into the tongue of our trailer so that I can get this mounted up. So today we do have a ball mount that does have our little sway control tabs, so that you don't actually have to weld on that tab that came with our sway control. So I'm just gonna drop in my ball, and then I'm gonna tighten up that nut, put that nice and hand tight, and then we're gonna take our channel locks. We'll hold onto our ball and then a 15/16 socket, and we will tighten that down. You don't have to get it super tight, we're not torquing this down or anything. You just wanna get it to crush up that locking washer that's in there. So the next part of our installation, we're gonna have to take our tape measure, we're gonna get the center of our coupler and we're gonna go back 24 inches. So 24 inches comes out to about right here. I'm gonna take my paint marker, I'm gonna make just a little notch. So now that I've added the little mark there, I know I can come back to that and center my ball right on top of that. And now, because I don't have self tapping screws, I'm gonna have to go ahead and drill out some holes. So I'm just gonna make little marks here with our paint marker so I can drill that out. And then also, I'm gonna hold up my spacer plate on that as well. Do the same for this because this is also gonna have to be mounted to the tongue of our trailer. All right. So I'm gonna go ahead, I'm gonna take my 1130 seconds drill bit and I'm gonna drill out our holes. So I'm holding my spacer plate and get that bolted on. You have to loosen that up just a bit to get the other ones in. Now we can go ahead and put our ball on. All right. Now that that's in place, we can go ahead and hook on our actual sway control. Now that we have our ball in place on our trailer tongue and then also on our actual ball mount. We can go ahead and loosen that up just a bit. You wanna make sure that you take the pressure off of your sway control before hooking up, that way that piece can actually slide out. It'll attach to both balls. And then we can go ahead and put our clips in place. Just pop in. Put that one on. There we go. And same thing with the backside. Just pop that right
