Watch this special webinar organised by the International Council on Archives (ICA) and the ICA Photographic and Audiovisual Archives Expert Group (PAAG) to mark the International Day of Education 2026. In an era where misinformation and manipulated media challenge historical truth, this webinar will explore how educators and archivists can ensure accuracy and engagement through the use of audiovisual archives. The discussion featured Natālija Lāce, Archive Expert at the Latvian State Archive of Audiovisual Documents and Chair of ICA/PAAG, presenting From Archives to Classrooms: An Educational Programme Using Audiovisual Archival Documents; Dr. Leslie Nancy Hernández Nova, Education Programme Officer at the Historical Archives of the European Union, presenting Best Practices on European Civic Education Programme: Shaping the European Citizenship through Audiovisual Archival Sources; and Ivan Milovanov, Professional Development Coordinator and Project Manager at the European Association of History Educators (EuroClio), presenting Watching Videos Like a Historian. Additional perspectives were shared by Julie Ann Nealega, Head of the Probe Archives and Member of the Board of the Society of Filipino Archivists for Film, and Mighty Magulang (Mona Magno-Veluz), social media creator and Philippine curator on Geni.com, through the project Probe Archives: History On Reel. The session was moderated by Giulia Martini, Information Services Librarian for Historical Photography at Qatar National Library. 🔗 More information about each of the panellists and their educational projects can be found here: https://www.ica.org/event/save-the-da...
