The purpose of this years trip is to explore the area in Western Australia, known as the Great Western woodland, as you head west across the Nullarbor, the vegetation returns, miles and miles of bush, this is the start of the Great Western Woodland, and it will take you another days driving till you reach the start of the wheat fields on the other side. At 16 million hectares, the Great Western Woodlands is over twice as big as Tasmania and is the largest remaining intact area of temperate woodland in the world. We start our trip at the Helena and Aurora ranges not far from Kalgoolie and then make our way north to the little town of Paynes Find.
