How can we make systems more inclusive for all regardless of disability and race? In Santa Clara County, around 144,000 residents live with a disability. Too often, people with disabilities, especially people of color, face systemic barriers that limit opportunity, dignity, and access to care. The data is stark; individuals with disabilities are twice as likely to live in poverty, and youth with disabilities are dramatically overrepresented in juvenile detention and underserved by special education. Behind the statistics are real lives and real stories. In this webinar, Conrad Crump, Senior Health Policy Advocate at Disability Rights California, community activist, and actor, shares his personal journey as a Black man with both an invisible disability from a brain injury and a diagnosis of ADHD. After experiencing a stroke that affected his memory and confidence, while living with ADHD, Conrad came to understand firsthand how unseen disabilities are often overlooked, even as they deeply shape daily life. Conrad explores how systems can erect barriers, create risk factors, and perpetuate disparities. He highlights the ways individuals, families, and professionals can come together to dismantle those barriers and bring justice and inclusion to our communities. This session engages both the heart and the mind, blending personal story, data, and powerful metaphor to reveal what it truly means to see the whole person. Viewers will leave with a deeper awareness of how race and disability intersect and practical steps to promote inclusion in their own systems of care. About the Speaker: Conrad Crump is a seasoned leader, policy advocate, and performer who is deeply dedicated to effecting positive change for marginalized communities, bringing both professional expertise and lived experience to his work.
