This video is the first part in our breakdown series on Jonathan Demme's Oscar Winning horror film, "The Silence of the Lambs" from 1991. In this video we break down the most charismatic serial killer ever put to screen in Anthony Hopkins's mesmerizing performance as Hannibal Lecter. And we also analyze the extremely unsettling first person point of view close ups and the "intimate" visual language of the film, that make it so unsettling from Jonathan Demme. And lastly we analyze the excellent exposition scenes and Jodie Foster's oscar winning performance of Clarice Starling, and why she brilliantly navigates the male dominated field of the FBI and actively pursues the killer of Buffalo Bill to complete a compelling character arc within the story. All of these reasons illustrate why Silence of the Lambs is still the only horror film to date that has won Best Picture at the Oscars.
