I have no knowledge of the earlier entries, side games, spin off films or extended media. On the surface that comes across like ignorance but it's only ignorant if I don't address it or acknowledge it. This video is made with the understanding that I have a very different history with this franchise than most hardcore fans do, however it's a perspective a lot of newcomers will likely have moving forward and that leaves RE with a bit of an identity crisis, something I feel is deeply interesting to explore. Not because I want to tear down or attack Resident Evil but just to dissect the concept, because as someone who started with RE2 and has only played their modern games, RE4 feels incredibly disconnected and strange by comparison, and I find that interesting.
