Sub-hyaloid hemorrhage refers to the accumulation of blood between the retina and the hyaloid membrane of the vitreous body in the eye. This condition can result from various causes, including diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, or trauma. Removal typically involves pars plana vitrectomy (PPV), where the vitreous gel is removed to access and clear the hemorrhage, allowing for potential visual recovery. During vitrectomy, if the hemorrhage is loose, it gets dispersed into the vitreous cavity obscuring the media. In this video, we demonstrate a technique by which sub-hyaloid hemorrhage can be cleared easily by initially making a small hole in the posterior hyaloid and removing the blood through it.
