Cole Mize shares straight to the point tips and techniques on how you can be a better rapper now! How To Rap In FL Studio In my efforts to continue up the ante I have decided to take my video tutorials to the next level by using one of my favorite Digital Audio Workstations "FL Studio". I am really excited about this advancement because it's going to allow me to give you guys a much more visual learning experience. 0:35 In this video tutorial I give you a quick overview of Fruity Loops Studio and how I am using it to teach up and coming artists like yourself how to rap. 1:52 For the purposes of this video tutorial I created two different cadences that alternate after each bar. This is a good rapping technique that will help your flow stay fresh and less predictable. 2:42 The first cadence I demonstrate is similar to what you may have heard DMX do before. Remember the art of translating cadences into lyrics is meshing words and syllables together that match your cadence. There is many ways to do this. In this example I show you how I use what I call a Run in to start my lyrics before the beginning of the bar. 4:16 Now on my second cadence you will notice that the whole bar is almost filled up with 16th notes except for the 14th and 16th beat. But just because there are pauses here doesn't actually mean that you aren't saying something on top of them it just means that you're not saying another word or syllable at these breaks. It's very likely that you may drag over a word on top of these breaks in order to pronounce a word and that's perfectly fine :) 5:30 now that we have established both of our cadences let's load up the beat and rap the whole thing from the top so you can see how all this comes together.
