Inside a Cargo Ship - ENGINE ROOM TOUR

In this video I show you around the ENGINE ROOM of a cargo ship. We divide the Engine Room up into five main areas and discuss the purpose of each. While I am not an engineer, I did consult with the ship's engineers as to the purpose of each area so I do hope to have achieved a factual presentation. While the engine room is not my main place of work, Deck and Engine teams often help each other out during large maintenance routines such as the cleaning of scavenger ports in the main engine, or when maintaining the vessels cargo gear on deck. As a cadet, I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to spend some time in the engine room to obtain a general understanding of how the engine room operates, which hopefully, will have significant benefits to my future career as a deck officer. I made this video in an effort to help all of you obtain a better understanding of the different jobs that occur on board a ship.
