Welcome back to the Volvo V70 2.5T Titanium Edition engine rebuild series! Today’s video marks the beginning of the actual reassembly process, and we’re kicking things off with a full cylinder head rebuild. After tearing the engine down last week and getting everything back from the machine shop, it’s finally time to start bringing this 5-cylinder back to life. In this episode, I’m diving into the top end of the engine. First, I’ll remove all the valves from the freshly cleaned cylinder head. Then it’s time to grind (lap) the valves to ensure a perfect seal between the valve faces and the seats, an essential step for proper engine performance. After that, I’ll be installing brand-new valve stem seals, giving this high-mileage head the refresh it deserves. Once all the valves, springs, and collets are back in place, I’ll be checking valve clearances to make sure everything is within spec. And surprisingly, everything turned out perfect already, which means this cylinder head is ready to go back on the engine when the time comes. With the top end now rebuilt, next week we’ll move on to the short block, where I’ll be installing new rings and bearings, and getting the bottom end ready for final assembly.
