Going Deep Into China's Pineapple Sea | 菠萝海

Over the Tomb Sweeping Festival Holiday May and I ventured into the "Pineapple Sea" of Xuwen, China. Xuwen is located at the southernmost tip of mainland China, southwest of Guangdong Province, bordering the South China Sea to the east, and across the Qiongzhou Strait to the south across the sea. Xuwen has grown pineapples for nearly a hundred years and is the largest pineapple producing area in the country. We were pleasantly surprised to find outgoing locals and delicious street food scattered throughout the city. I was the only foreigner in the entire city, so if you don't mind the hilarious stares and want a destination on the road less travelled this is the place for you. How to get there: We took a train from Guangzhou South Station to Maoming - then transferred to Xuwen. The whole journey took about 8 hours. Music From Epidemic Sound
