The Carbon River in the little town of Orting Washington never ceases to amaze me. This is the first year I have fished it since probably around 2010. It is still the same. Loaded with Pink AKA Humpy Salmon, and the occasional Silver and Chinook. Humpy eggs make the best cured egg bait I have ever used. They reabsorb cure better than other salmon species and plump up larger than Coho, Chinook or Sockeye eggs. Drift fishing a pair of small corkies, a small #2 barbless hook with a 3 ft leader, and a small piece of pencil lead has always worked well.
