For spring 2001, Emanuel Ungaro presented his couture collection at the Grande Halle de la Villette, located 20 minutes outside Paris. The setting featured a fantasy-like environment with a waterfall backdrop, bubbling ponds, grassy slopes, petite trees, and a pink-sand runway winding through the space. The collection showcased vibrant color contrasts, including acid-green leather trousers paired with a fuchsia silk top and a purple wool jacket. Soft tailoring appeared in feather-light chiffon wrap dresses in shades of violet, often accented with floral details. Embellished looks drew on rajah-inspired embroidery, while voluminous skirts in chartreuse, salmon, and sunflower tulle were styled with large, knotted head wraps. Eveningwear included brightly colored minidresses in hot pink, yellow, and orange, paired with beaded-strap gold sandals.
