John Varlotto, MD, Marshall University, Huntington, WV, discusses results from the Phase III EA5181 trial (NCT04092283) of concurrent plus consolidative durvalumab with chemoradiotherapy (CRT) versus consolidative durvalumab alone in unresectable stage III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Overall survival and progression-free survival were similar between arms, with no significant differences in response rates, recurrence patterns, or toxicity. These findings suggest that initiating durvalumab concurrently with CRT does not improve outcomes compared to consolidation alone.
