Fishy business in Vardø, arctic Norway

It seems to be an annual event; Vardø fishermen having to fight for their right to fish in their own waters. During my many years in Vardø I have spent a lot of time drinking coffee with local fishermen. Seeing the struggle from their point of view is eye opening. I very much appreciate knowing how dedicated these people are to the ocean, and how much they care about the ecology of the sea. The concept of sustainability takes on a deeper meaning, when you know this from your own experience. This video was recently posted on our fb-page and was widely shared in northern communities, fighting the same fight as the Vardø fishermen. I am very happy to at least make a small contribution, and help give a stronger voice to the small communities of the north.
