Kimmeridge Woman was discovered after her skeleton eroded out of the cliffs at Kimmeridge Bay. Analysis of the bones by Bournemouth University found that she lived in the late Iron Age or early Roman period, some time between the 1st century BC and the 1st century AD, and that she died at a relatively young age after a life of hard manual labour. Using new technology, a virtual model and a 3D printed lifesized replica of her skull were created. MSc Bioarchaeology student Amber Manning used these to reconstruct Kimmeridge Woman’s face, recreating what she would have looked like 2,000 years ago. The skeleton and reconstructed face of Kimmeridge Woman will be on display at Wareham Museum throughout 2025.
