Give Local, Give YMCA at Virginia Tech in 2021

Josiah Shrestha is a sophomore attending Blacksburg High School. He was born in Melbourne, Florida and comes from a family of immigrants from South Asia. Josiah expanded his interests and passion for Creative and Fine Arts by producing his own no-budget short films with his relatives and friends. Over the years of studying and reviewing films of all lengths and genres, Josiah has been fascinated by the power it has not just to raise awareness of multitudes of human struggles, but also to touch the hearts and minds of people and help them take action towards a better future. He is really excited about the opportunity to collaborate with the staff and volunteers at the YMCA at Virginia Tech in producing a short promotional video for the Give Local Day fund-raising event supporting the Meals on Main program. He hopes this will inspire people to come together and help the YMCA fight the hunger in this community that he loves dearly. He also hopes to learn about many other issues facing this community and discover some ways he can make a little difference through film.
