It's Memorial Day weekend so I am reviewing the CAO America, a classic cigar that's been around since 2007. Promoted as an "American" cigar, it really is a distant third to two other cigars. The CAO America has an all-American wrapper (Connecticut Broadleaf and Connecticut Shade barber pole) but the inside is a mix of tobacco from Nicaragua, Italy and the Dominican Republic. While the CAO America certainly fits the bill for setting the mood, the Comacho Barrel Aged American features "virtually" (the company's description) all American tobacco. It is not a true American Puro, however, because it is made at the Davidoff factory in Dominicana. If you want a 100% American Puro, the J.C. Newman American is the only smoke that features completely American-grown tobacco and is made in the US, at J.C. Newman's factory in Florida. In terms of the CAO America, as the review says, I found it a bit disappointing. Construction had a number of issues - not fatal, but enough to lessen the smoking experience. Flavor was pretty one-dimensional with predominantly leather, some cedar and come spice on and off.
