Winter can sometimes be a bleak time in the garden. February is the time when the seasons start to change, the days seem to get longer, and you can start to feel some warmth in the rays of the sun. Many plants begin to start awakening from their winter sleep, buds start to emerge from trees and shrubs, and bulbs show signs of life, emerging through the frosty soil. February is also the best time to go outside in your garden, take a look, and get ready for spring by clearing the winter clutter. Getting it ready for Spring-time, and the perfect time to start thinking about the new season ahead. Join me in my garden, here in Neath, South Wales, UK. This week, I've purchased a lovely little Terracotta planter which I've planted up some Spring bulbs for early spring blooms, spending time tending to the greenhouse and feeding the winter birds. Also, I've been thinking about what needs doing in the next few weeks, as Spring is now looming. (what plants do I want to plant this coming season). Temperatures here at the moment, seem to be holding at about 5 degrees in the daytime, but luckily we haven't had any night time frosts now for a few weeks....but the more tender plants are still protected and will be for the moment, until the temperatures rise (probably nearer end of March or early April). Let me know in the comments what you're doing in your garden in February.
