Musician Rick Beato Emphasizes Prioritizing Health After Mitral Valve Repair

He followed up with a local cardiologist and found out he had mitral valve regurgitation, which means his heart’s mitral valve wasn’t closing completely, causing blood to leak back into the heart. After years of monitoring, it was determined Rick would need surgery. A family member suggested Rick seek care at Cleveland Clinic. He met with cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Marc Gillinov, who says Rick sought surgical intervention at just the right time. Dr. Gillinov and Rick sit down and recount Rick's treatment and progress since his surgery. Dr. Gillinov is the Chairman of the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.
