The procrastinators biggest fear: "I’ve been working on my feelings and thoughts about my productivity for a while now. But I’ve come to a block and I need help understanding it. I’ve heard a lot of people talk about how procrastination is caused by the fear of failure. However, I think I’ve come to terms with the prospect of failure. I think I’d be ok with it if I was able to give my all. However, I feel I’m not giving my all and this leaves me feeling so bad inside. It’s affecting my confidence and I usually feel regret and disappointment with myself at the end of each day. If it’s not the fear of failure, what is it that’s holding me back?" Answer: Your biggest fear is that you won’t do what’s required. Thus, when action creeps closer, anxiety builds. Procrastination is a defense mechanism for this anxiety. Use this fear. Use it as a consequence proactively and consciously. Currently, you are enabling this outcome (not doing it). Take full conscious control of not doing it. When ‘not doing it’ happens, amplify it even more. Do nothing for the rest of the day.
