Last weekend one of the best swells in the past decade arrived in the Mentawai Islands, and Kandui Left (NoKandui) was the premier wave providing some of the most amazing barrels seen in ages. A number of big barrel chargers arrived on Kandui Villas on Friday just in time to get some of the best waves of their lives. Early in the morning of June 28, you could see the swell hitting the reef right here in front of Kandui Villas. Surfers from Hawaii, Australia, USA, Brazil, Morocco and many other places were here to sample NoKandui at its best. The conditions were perfect, and names like Koa Smith, Dean Morrison, Koa Rothman, Parker Coffin, Tom Dosland, Billy Kamper, Craig Anderson, Kailani Jabour, Eli Olson, Paulo Moura, Jean da Silva and many other guys were putting on a tube riding clinic. If it is said that “A picture is worth a thousand words," then a surf video is worth a million words! Enjoy some of the gnarliest barrels of the epic swell!
